Personal Kit
Included in the Personal Kit are things we need to keep close to us at all times. We keep them in the top pouches of our packs.
Packing Comments
- Electrolyte Tablets
- I drink straight water on our hikes and climbs. The electrolyte tablets replenish my system. Gatorade also works, but I drink water.
- Nail Clippers
- Just to keep the fingers and toes in good shape.
- Lip Protection
- My preference is the Banana Boat Sport sunscreen lip balm, but it seems as if they stopped making the product in a small tube. You can buy it in a large stick.
- Sun Protection
- We use whatever we find on the shelf at the drug store. I have not found one to be any better than the other. We must always make sure we have it and make the time to use it.
- Bug Protection
- Again a matter of choice. I do not like DEET, but I like bugs even less. We will carry a heavy duty and a lightweight version of protection on all overnight trips.
- Sports Slick
- Ah, how do you spell relief? Sports Slick helps soothe and prevent chafing. We have the large tubes in the car and carry a small container that we refill as needed.
Post-Trip Comments
Used everything. The Electrolyte tablets definitely saved us a few times. Toward the end of the trip we took them regularly.
